Mode Mixing and Rotational Splittings. II. Reconciling Different Approaches to Mode Coupling

چکیده
Abstract In the mixed-mode asteroseismology of subgiants and red giants, coupling between p- g- mode cavities must be understood well in order to derive localized estimates interior rotation from measurements multiplet rotational splittings. There exist now two different descriptions this coupling: one based on an asymptotic quantization condition, other arising matrices associated with “acoustic molecular orbitals.” We examine analytic properties both, closed-form expressions for various quantities—such as period-stretching function τ —which previously had solved numerically. Using these, we reconcile both formulations first time, deriving relations by which quantities each formulation may translated interpreted within other. This yields information criterion whether a given configuration mixed modes meaningfully constrain parameters construction, is likely not satisfied majority first-ascent giant stars our observational sample. Since construction has been already used make such examine—through hare-and-hounds exercise—whether, how, limitations affect these existing measurements. While averaged core seem fairly robust, template-matching using difficulty reliably assigning splittings individual multiplets, or estimating mixing fractions ζ most p -dominated modes, where are needed. finally discuss implications extending two-zone model radial differential rotation, e.g., via inversions, methods.

Mode-Coupling SRLS versus Mode-Decoupled Model-Free N-H Bond Dynamics: Mode-Mixing and Renormalization
The common approach to N-H motion in proteins is model-free (MF), where the global (RC) and local (RL) motions are assumed decoupled. We have recently applied to N-H bond dynamics the slowly relaxing local structure (SRLS) model, which accounts rigorously for mode-coupling. The original and extended MF formulas are perturbational expansions of SRLS with respect to the local ordering, (S0), when...
متن کاملMode coupling points to functionally important residues in myosin II.
Relevance of mode coupling to energy/information transfer during protein function, particularly in the context of allosteric interactions is widely accepted. However, existing evidence in favor of this hypothesis comes essentially from model systems. We here report a novel formal analysis of the near-native dynamics of myosin II, which allows us to explore the impact of the interaction between ...
متن کاملTheory of intermodal four-wave mixing with random linear mode coupling in few-mode fibers.
We study intermodal four-wave mixing (FWM) in few-mode fibers in the presence of birefringence fluctuations and random linear mode coupling. Two different intermodal FWM processes are investigated by including all nonlinear contributions to the phase-matching condition and FWM bandwidth. We find that one of the FWM processes has a much larger bandwidth than the other. We include random linear m...
متن کاملE/B mode mixing
In future microwave background polarization experiments, particularly those that aim to characterize the B component, careful attention will have to be paid to the mixing of E and B components due to finite sky coverage and pixelization. Any polarization map can be decomposed into “pure E,” “pure B,” and “ambiguous” components. In practice, since the B component is expected to be much weaker th...
متن کاملMode-coupling theory
In this set of lecture notes we review the mode-coupling theory of the glass transition from several perspectives. First, we derive mode-coupling equations for the description of density fluctuations from microscopic considerations with the use the Mori-Zwanzig projection operator technique. We also derive schematic mode-coupling equations of a similar form from a field-theoretic perspective. W...
